An Original 11 X 14 Lobby Card #7 from the 1947 classic film noir “The Lady from Shanghai” directed by Orson Welles starring Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth. The film is based on Sherwood King’s 1938 novel “If I Die Before I Wake” and follows crewman Michael O’Hara (Welles) who gets caught up in a complex murder plot while falling in love with Elsa Bannister (Hayworth). “The Lady from Shanghai” was the only collaboration of Orson Wells and his second wife Rita Hayworth. The picture was filmed in the beginning of what would be a long three year divorce between the two. The film at the time of release was considered a complete failure however critics now consider the mirrors shootout scene at the films end to be one of the “hallmarks” of classic cinematography. Offered here is the best card in the set showing Welles and Hayworth in the famous hall of mirrors. This card boasts brilliant colors and is completely unrestored. Light handling wear, three needless pieces of tape on the verso, creases along the borders and in the black background keep this magnificent card from grading any higher. Certainly one of the most desirable Lobby Cards from the 40’s. Fine.
